The project ‘Vies Braves’, in which Calella participates since 2015, got the prestigious stamp Biosphere of responsible tourism

Calella, included in the ‘Vies Braves’ project since 2015, hosts an annual meeting. Furthermore, the sea lane is suitable for swimming at any time of the year.

The Institute of Responsible Tourism, associated entity to the UNESCO and to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), awarded the “Vies Braves” project with the certification of Biosphere Responsible Tourism that credits it as a sustainable experience.

The routes of “Vies Braves” are marine itineraries running parallel to the coastal paths, clearly signalized and marked to make you enjoy and explore the shoreline from the sea on a safety way.

In the case of Calella, the route covers a signed distance of one kilometre approximately, and it goes from the area of the Swimming Club of Calella to the “Roca Grossa” (Big Rock).

The “Vies Braves” are free for swimmers and fans of snorkeling. The itineraries are equipped with information boards providing details including the name, a topographical map and characteristics of the course (length, width, time, level of difficulty...), as well as indications about the biodiversity and characteristics of the seafloor, made with the collaboration of the Faculty of Biology from the University of Barcelona. The boards also include recommendations for usage and safety.

Calella incorporated to the “Vies Braves” network in 2015. One of the reasons why it was decided to participate was that the “Vies Braves” project, just like the Town Hall of Calella, supports taking care of natural space, and raising awareness of the importance of the sea, the landscape and the routes.
