The City Council is promoting the city, in a showcase worldwide, as a destination with great tourist potential and as a municipality that has certainly taken all measures against COVID-19.
The World Travel Market - considered one of the most important international fairs in Europe - has held a virtual edition this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Calella City Council, as usual, has taken part in the London Tourism Fair to promote its tourist potential and to show itself as a destination that has adopted all the measures and regulations to offer a safe tourist experience.
During the World Travel Market, Calella City Council has conducted a total of 18 virtual interviews with travel agencies and tour operators. The British market remains one of the main emitters of tourism in the city; between May and October 2019 more than 227,000 overnight stays of UK tourists were recorded. The Tourist Office places the British influx in third place in the most visited countries in the city of Calella, behind national and Russian tourism.
Calella has exhibited its offer through the virtual stand of the Catalan Tourism Agency, sharing space with co-exhibitors such as Costa Brava and Costa Daurada Tourist Board; Sitges, Terres de l’Ebre or Turisme de Barcelona.
