The meeting was attended by more than 100 participants, including members of the public administration and companies, and allowed find out which are the trends in online reputation and competitiveness of the tourism sector.
Last Thursday, October 3, the City of Calella participated in a one day innovation workshop on online reputation and tourism competitiveness, organized by the Technical Office of the Tourism Management of the Diputación de Barcelona.
During the meeting, the results of the last online reputation study of the Region of Barcelona were presented, with the analysis of more than 1,250,000 opinions accumulated online for about 17,000 tourist resources in the Barcelona regions.
In this way, the study has allowed quantifying the valuation of tourists on accommodation, restaurants and tourist attractions of the destinations, based on the scores published by users within a selection of the main online tourism platforms, as well as tracking of the main reputation indicators initiated in 2015.
During the day a debate space was organized with destinations and companies in the sector, where the participants explained how they are taking advantage of the opinions of tourists for their management and tourism promotion.
Ferran Muñoz, responsible for the Calella Smart Tourism Destination project, presented the smart destination project of the City Council of Calella and shared the experience of our city in relation to the application of this "reputational intelligence" in the destination. Specifically, how in the case of Calella, smart data tourism is being used to better understand the perception of visitors and how these data allow to redefine the profile of tourists and, at the same time, identify the main areas of potential improvement in different sectors, establishments and resources of the city. Muñoz highlighted the value of the data arguing that the ultimate goal is to generate knowledge for the action in order to adapt supply and demand from a 360º perspective of the tourist experience in our destination.
Calella, recognized as the best Smart Tourism Destination 2017
The Calella Smart Destination project, started in 2017 with the elaboration of a roadmap on the city's smart tourist destination model, received the recognition of the specialized press with the Best Smart Tourism Destination Award, granted by the Catalan Association of Journalists of Economy and Tourism last June.
