Calella participates for the first time in a tourism fair in Italy
Calella has participated for the first time in a tourism fair in Italy, the TTG Incontri in Rimini. From 12 to 14 October, Calella was present at the stand of the Catalan Tourism Agency and shared the space of the Barcelona regions with the Office of Tourism Promotion of the Diputació de Barcelona, under the theme "Barcellona è molto di piú".
The TTG Incontri fair is one of the most important fairs in Italy for tourism professionals and a meeting point for the main players in the Italian market. From the stand of Calella, 21 agencies have been attended requesting information from our destination, aimed at different tourist markets: accommodation and activities for families (family), accommodations specialized in cycling tourism (cycling and sports), holidays in general, proximity to the city of Barcelona, religious tourism and pilgrimage trips, art, culture and gastronomy.
Italian tourism in Calella
The Italian tourist still has low presence in our city. During the 2016 season, it represented 2.15% of the total number of foreign visitors coming to Calella. The Italians travel mostly in August, when most of them take their vacations.
The Italian likes to travel as a couple (36.6%), alone (22.1%) or with friends (20.2%), according to data from the Center for Tourism Promotion (CPT) in Italy. It is also worth noting the great autonomy of the market: 78.6% travel without a tourist package making the reservations through the internet platforms, being the most chosen modality the hotel (72.4%). Geographically, the inhabitants of the north travel more, followed by those from the center of the country and, lastly, those from the south and the islands. During 2016, the tendency to travel abroad increased by 19.7% over the previous year. The products most appreciated by the Italian tourists in Catalonia are the cultural and leisure activities, and the gastronomy.
In this sense, the visits to the website calellabarcelona.com from Italy show an interest in the contents related to accommodation, beaches, culture (things to do), how to get there and where to eat. In relation to the demographic data of the visits, the origin is located mainly in the cities of the north and the center of the country, specifically in Milan, Turin and Rome, showing a correspondence with the geographical data of the CPT of Italy. Although visits from Italy on the web represent only 1.19% of total visits, they have grown by 11.16% during 2017.
