The certificate is an initiative from Spain's Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE) which guarantees demanding safety and hygiene protocols.
Playa Grande and Playa de Garbí de Calella are the first in Catalonia to get the “Safe Tourism Certified seal”, which indicates that the new safety and hygiene protocols that are applied comply with the guidelines set by the World Health Organization, the Ministry of Health and ICTE.
The City Council has incorporated various measures to guarantee the safety and well-being of the users of Calella's beaches in the current pandemic situation. Some of them are: the design of a complete disinfection protocol from which beach cleaning is intensified; the installation of a capacity control system; the adaptation of spaces to guarantee social distance; and the incorporation of hydroalcoholic gels and EPIS for workers, clients and collaborators, among others.
In addition, the consistory has created a training program for the entire municipal team in which it teaches and reports on all the protocols and precautions to be adopted in the tourism sector.
Internal and external audits of the SGS company have verified the proper functioning of these new protocols.
