The town hall of Calella will begin work on the creation of a new inclusive circuit “Summing Capacities” which will consist of three itineraries that pass through natural areas such as the Garbi promenade, the lighthouse, the antic telegraphic turrets, the wooden bridge over the main road, the vantage point of the Roca Grossa and the coastal paths with the aim to promote the practice of physical outdoor activity for people with diverse functional disabilities.

The town hall councillor for sport Mr. Xavier Arnijas and the sports technician Mr. Joan Ferrer have worked on this project together with the collaboration of the Councillor Mr. Xavier Casillanis.

The inclusive nature circuits, with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council, are a BOX21 initiative of the Itinerarium Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to help improve the quality of life and promote sport, running and walking among people with the most difficulties.  The principal novelty is that these circuits will be adapted for everyone, with permanent markers, in different towns and cities of the country. There are currently fifteen inclusive circuits operating in Catalonia and more than a dozen projected to be opened shortly.

In Calella, the circuit will have three paths which go through different emblematic natural areas of the city starting and and ending at the wooden bridge of the Riera Capaspre. The first one will be marked by the colour orange and will have a distance of 1, 4 kilometres and an accumulated ascent of 20 metres. The route will pass entirely along the Passeig de Garbi and will be designed especially for those with reduced visibility. The second route will be marked in blue and will be suitable for all types of wheelchairs and will have a distance of 4,4 kilometres and an accumulated ascent of 150 metres, it will pass through all the related sites, except for the turrets. The last route will be marked by the colour pink with a distance of 4,8 kilometres and an accumulated ascent of 240 metres. It is considered as the most difficult route of the three and it is designed especially for persons with intellectual or physical disabilities but with sufficient mobility.  This third circuit will pass through all of the proposed natural areas.

Parts of the circuit will be complimented by the implementation of a mobile game called "Game of Values" aimed at schools, social organizations, citizens and tourists with the aim of promoting values, city history, the environment and social inclusion.

The total cost of the project is 10.527,00 € (with IVA) and includes the study and creation of the inclusive circuit, the implementation of the app “Game of Values” and the talks and support of the Foundation. The Barcelona Provincial Council have awarded the project with a grant of 5.000,00 €.

The Itinerarium Foundation promotes this project, led by Anna Vives, known, among other things, for being the creator of the typeface that bears her name, Anna, and for having been nominated Catalan of the year. The project not only aims to raise awareness about the abilities of people but also put forward initiatives to help improve their personal satisfaction. The Technical Director of the inclusive circuits Summing Capacities is Eduard Jornet, the actual director of the Volta Cerdanya Ultrafons. The sponsors of the project are the world champions of mountain races Kilian Jornet and Nuria Picas.
