In recent days, the first visitors have filled the rooms of Calella's tourist establishments. Of the fifty accommodation units in the city, seventeen have open the doors in the last two weeks, which has allowed a dripping of visitors. Most come from different parts of Catalonia, but tourists have also come from Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France and the United Kingdom.

Following the guidelines of the Secretary of State for Tourism, the establishments have established strict hygiene and safety protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19. For example, it is mandatory to wear a mask inside the facilities and wash your hands with hydroalcoholic gel each time you access a different space. Protective partitions have also been placed in the receptions; The decoration elements of the rooms have been reduced; the letters of the bars and restaurants have been replaced by QR codes and the buffets are no longer free, if not assisted by hotel staff. Precisely, in May the Calella City Council offered virtual training to employers and workers to guarantee a safe opening, based on the criteria established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and contained in the guides prepared by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality (ICTE) validated by the Ministry of Health of the Spanish government.

In June, coinciding with the launch of the first accommodations, the council also launched the 'Es Calella' (It’s Calella) marketing campaign with the aim of attracting local tourism, from Catalonia and the rest of Spain.

For now, the accommodations that have opened the doors are the Hotel Mediterrani Express, H. TOP Calella Palace, Hotel Neptuno, Racó d'en Pepe, Hotel Les Palmeres, Hotel Haromar, Sant Jordi Boutique Hotel, Atzavara Apartments, Aparthotel Safari, Camping Bona Vista, Mar Blau Apartments, Comfort Apartments, El Pekinaire, Neptuno Apartments, Camping Roca Grossa, Univers Hostel and Restaurant, Casa Àustria Pension and Casablanca Suites. A dozen more establishments are scheduled to open throughout the month of July.
